"Men in Black International" is more than just an afterthought; it’s an unfortunate afterthought.

"Mary" is more mediocre than bad but there’s nothing here to catch the attention of anyone serious about their horror.

Run Time: 1:58
U.S. Release Date: 2019-10-18
MPAA Rating: "PG" (Violence)
Genre: Fantasy
Director: Joachim Ronning
Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris Dickinson, Sam Riley, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay

Makes a conscious decision to address a subject that not many family films would touch with a ten-foot pole…then bungles the implications and the message.

Although the lead character’s arc is troubled and conflicted, the ending makes her seem more like a superhero than the material warrants.

It’s creepy and suspenseful and, although the last act goes on auto-pilot, the film offers a better-than-average experience for those who like their psychopaths unhinged.

A much different breed of horror than one typically finds in multiplexes, trading in jump scares for something longer and lingering.

Run Time: 2:16
U.S. Release Date: 2019-12-06
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Drama
Director: Noah Baumbach
Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, Laura Dern, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, Julie Hagerty, Azhy Robertson

The film’s themes and emotions are universal and Baumbach shows great sensitivity in his depiction of the personal toll of a divorce.

An unconventional tale of redemption that earns its ending by not falling prey to every cliché of the genre or giving in to the temptation to become too sentimental.
