Unevenly paced and narratively scattershot, it offers moments of entertainment but lacks cohesion and consistency.

Despite its awkward and uneven elements, "The Prom" offers enough high-energy moments to be seen as a passable motion picture adaptation of the stage play.

This movie is passable popcorn entertainment – a two-hour distraction that won’t stand the test of time but was never intended to.

The director’s macabre flourishes and garish visuals can’t completely camouflage the hollow space at the production’s core.

The fifth movie sticks to the formula and delivers the third-most entertaining entry into the series, which is probably about the best one can hope for at this stage of its existence.

It’s difficult to recommend something that, despite offering a few solid laughs, is instantly forgettable.
