I have only recently watched this movie, because I had seen the play. Actually, I saw a version of the play called "12 Angry Women." Good movie, but not really re-watchable.

Great review and a great film. I came late to it, watching it for the first time about 2 years ago (I have a review on the link on my signature, if anyone's interested), but I agree with most of the points posted by James. Like James said, I don't think the film cared much about the guilt/innocence of the accused, but rather about presenting what happens in that room and presenting what "reasonable doubt" means. One of the best lines of the film for me comes early, and it's when Juror #8 replies "I don't really know what the truth is. I don't suppose anybody will ever really know", which probably is the truth about most crimes. And yet everyone is so swift to determine the fate of another human being without actually giving it it's due importance. It's a great film.

Really a good movie. Do recall seeing an article online a few years back from a lawyer. He asserted that
[Reveal] Spoiler:
one of the weaknesses of the films was that the defendant was found not guilty. While each item Henry Fonda brought up individually to cast doubt about may have been valid, when taken altogether, the defendant in question was more than likely guilty. If the case had hinged on one or two of those things, probably not guilty. But taken all together, probably guilty.

I think we had a thread about that before. I know I took part in a discussion about it on a forum, just can't remember 100% for sure that it was this forum.

It was this forum.

What was so weird about that thread was how quickly it went completely off topic.
