Some of the individual moments are impactful or effective at evoking nostalgia. But, as they say, the whole is less than the sum of the parts.

With its lazy, somnambulant pace and endless stream of cameos, "Around the World in 80 Days" seems to be unfolding in real time (although it boasts stunning visuals).

Never ascends to the level that would make it more of an experience than a way to pass a couple of hours.

An occasionally enjoyable diversion that offers enough low-key laughs to paper over a few the filmmaker’s annoying tendencies.

The film’s first half is promising but it is let down by the rushed ending and confusing changes in character motivations.
