For anyone whose primary concern is to see the righteous slaughter of bad guys at the hands of the noble Statham, "A Working Man" does not disappoint.

Run Time: 2:40
U.S. Release Date: 2024-11-22
MPAA Rating: "PG"
Genre: Musical/Fantasy
Director: Jon M. Chu
Cast: Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande-Butera, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage

This adaptation of the stage musical gives us eye-popping settings, big-screen expansions of Broadway numbers, and far too much stretching of an already-thin narrative.

Run Time: 1:35
U.S. Release Date: 2024-10-18
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity)
Genre: Thriller
Director: Anna Kendrick
Cast: Anna Kendrick, Daniel Zovatto, Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, Pete Holmes, Autumn Best

The screenplay does a good job with the "Dating Games" scenes and the tense, creepy sequence that follows but it founders in establishing a wider canvas.

Run Time: 1:48
U.S. Release Date: 2024-10-18
MPAA Rating: "R" (Sexual Content, Nudity, Profanity)
Genre: Drama
Director: John Crowley
Cast: Andrew Garfield, Florence Pugh, Grace Delaney, Adam James, Lee Braithwaite

The movie occasionally tries too hard to turn on the waterworks and allows its structure to upstage the fine performances by the leads.

Run Time: 1:48
U.S. Release Date: 2024-09-27
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Thriller/Comedy
Director: Jon Watts
Cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams

A tepid crime thriller with a comedic undertone, the movie struggles with its unremarkable narrative and relies on the palpable chemistry between its stars.

As a comedy, it hits many of the right notes but as a mystery, it is less than impressive.

Without offering more than dialogue, "Women Talking" has difficulty sustaining itself for 104 minutes.

Run Time: 1:43
U.S. Release Date: 2022-11-16
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Drama/Mystery
Director: Sebastian Lelio
Cast: Florence Pugh, Kila Lord Cassidy, Tom Burke, Elaine Cassidy, Caolan Byrne, Toby Jones, Ciaran Hinds

Despite its strong sense of atmosphere and an intense performance by lead actress Florence Pugh, "The Wonder" is strangely uninvolving.

An example of something that can work well on the written page but loses a lot when condensed and brought to the screen.

Run Time: 1:50
U.S. Release Date: 2021-04-30
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity)
Genre: Action/Thriller
Director: Stefano Sollima
Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Guy Pearce, Lauren London

For something based on a Clancy novel, it’s disappointingly lacking in the author’s trademark complexity and detail. This is pure disposable entertainment – nothing more, nothing less.
