Fans of the Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright collaborations may find the material to be engaging but there is little to convince contemporary viewers that this is a forgotten gem.

MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity, Nudity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Drama/Thriller
Director: Henry Bean
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Billy Zane, Theresa Russell, Summer Phoenix

An interesting film for the things it does right but, by the time the end credits rolled, I was unable to fight back a sense of frustration with its limitations.

A degree of unevenness is expected and that is what "Barbie" delivers: a delightful confection at its best, an unfocused jumble at its worst.

U.S. Release Date: 2022-09-23
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Sexual Content, Brief Nudity)
Genre: Thriller
Director: Allan Ungar
Cast: Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, Mel Gibson, Nestor Carbonnell

Offers more of a diversion than an experience; it retains the look and feel of something not quite “theatrical” in its ambitions.

Run Time: 1:40
U.S. Release Date: 2022-04-22
MPAA Rating: "PG"
Genre: Animated
Director: Pierre Perifel
Cast: Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Anthony Ramos, Craig Robinson, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade

This lazily-plotted heist comedy may find favor with children while causing more than a few adults to doze off.

The underlying idea is intriguing and observing the main character's behavior has the same appeal as watching a train wreck, but the conclusion is unsatisfying.

Run Time: 1:52
U.S. Release Date: 2021-09-17
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Violence)
Genre: Drama
Director: Justin Chon
Cast: Justin Chon, Alicia Vikander, Mark O’Brien, Linh Dan Pham, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Sydney Kowalske

"Blue Bayou" channels plenty of anger and passion and the narrative lynchpin is compelling but Chon’s capabilities as a writer don’t match those as a director and an actor.

With a paint-by-numbers storyline and lackluster villain, the chief pleasures come from Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, and David Harbour.

Run Time: 1:17
U.S. Release Date: 2016-07-25
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Sexual Content)
Genre: Animated
Director: Sam Liu
Cast: Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, Ray Wise, Maury Sterling

Feels like it was cobbled together out of different pieces of varying quality and, as such, it doesn’t work as well as it might.

Geraldine Viswanathan is the reason to see this by-the-numbers rom-com.
