Suffused with hypnotic visuals and anchored by a tremendous performance by Idris Elba, the movie takes its cues from the fantasy workings of Guillermo del Toro and is only occasionally found wanting.

MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Gore, Sexual Content, Nudity)
Genre: Horror
Director: Ti West

For those enamored with Ti West’s extraordinarily entertaining 2022 horror film, "X," his latest effort is required viewing, although it’s a much different kettle of fish.

U.S. Home Release Date: 2022-11-01
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Comedy
Director: Adamma Ebo
Cast: Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown, Nicole Beharie, Conphidance, Austin Crute, Devere Rogers

The movie is at times funny, at times blistering, and at times insightful, but it lacks consistency, thereby arguing that perhaps the short film that provided its basis offered a better length.

Although relying on some of the alchemy that made the formula successful in 1986, the film’s awareness of cultural shifts makes for a more complete cinematic experience.

Those who see "Nope" might not get exactly what they’re expecting but they may enjoy it anyway.

There’s a time and a place for mayhem, and that’s essentially what "Bullet Train" is: two hours of fights, carnage, and witty repartee.

Run Time: 1:47

MPAA Rating: "PG-13" (Profanity, Intense Peril)
Genre: Thriller
Director: Scott Mann

As B-movies go, this one is good enough to hold the attention and wring out the tension without doing anything more ambitious.

It’s Agatha Christie crossed with "Euphoria," and mostly works as both a slasher murder mystery and a drug/alcohol-fueled Gen Z soap opera.

Has a free-spirited sense of fun and mischief that allows the viewer to uncover something more enjoyable than the monotonous sameness of the CGI overload.

Run Time: 1:34
U.S. Home Release Date: 2022-09-20
MPAA Rating: "R" (Profanity, Violence)
Genre: Drama/Thriller
Director: B.J. Novak
Cast: B.J. Novak, Boyd Holbrook, Ashton Kutcher, Issa Rae, J. Smith-Cameron, Melissa Chambers, Lio Tipton

Flawed but fresh, Novak's feature got me to laugh with him and at him while taking the story seriously and becoming involved in its quirks and twists.
