Gets props for kinetic energy and a couple of bravura performances but pretty much everything else is either mediocre or substandard.
"Star Trek Beyond" is a Star Trek movie, although not an especially good one.
"Snowden" could have been an important film. Sadly, unlike its subject, it’s unremarkable and easily forgotten.
An entertaining but inconsequential animated movie with a strong "Toy Story" influence.
Although not an Oscar-worthy endeavor, "Sully" proves to be by turns engaging, exhilarating, and nail-biting.
An ephemeral pleasure but a pleasure nonetheless.
In "Silence", moments of brilliance punctuate an otherwise sluggish, self-indulgent narrative.
Its challenging content and well-crafted visuals more than counterbalance any narrative unevenness.
Director John Carney infuses the familiar framework of the “coming of age” story with songs and whimsy and a touch of romance.
