It’s fascinating to watch the minutia of how the TV show was produced. Many of the details are surprising; unfortunately, the movie’s dramatic elements aren’t as compelling.

Fascinating, garish, and compelling, "Benedetta" dabbles in some of Verhoeven’s career-long weaknesses while highlighting a great many of his strengths.

Run Time: 2:06
U.S. Release Date: 2021-12-01
MPAA Rating: "R" (Sexual Content, Disturbing Images, Nudity)
Genre: Western/Drama
Director: Jane Campion
Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee

Perhaps not as powerful or wrenching as Campion intended for it to be but "The Power of the Dog" remains an unsettling piece of cinema.

Regardless of how much how much has been softened to suit the movie’s perspective, the end result is compelling drama with top-notch performances and a feel-good denouement.

The surprisingly intimate result is enjoyable in the moment but the mental footprint fades rather quickly.

Nostalgia remains the main selling point and viewers attending for that reason won’t be disappointed.

Run Time: 2:32
U.S. Release Date: 2021-10-15
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Sexual Content)
Genre: Drama/Adventure
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Ben Affleck, Harriet Walter, Alex Lawther

Scott transforms "The Last Duel" into a deconstruction of chivalry and an exploration of the ugliest aspects of misogyny in the late Middle Ages.

One of the better sequels, containing all the requisite elements to make it popular among horror film lovers regardless of their ages.

Run Time: 1:46
U.S. Release Date: 2021-10-08
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Sexual Content, Nudity)
Genre: Drama/Horror
Director: Valdimar Johannsson
Cast: Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snaer Guonason, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson

"Lamb" is very much a visual experience, relying on tone to buttress narrative weaknesses.

Enough not only to whet the appetite for the TV Series, "The Sopranos," but to provide a moderately satisfying meal in its own right.
