An oddball buddy/road movie that nearly drowns in a tsunami of sentimentality and predictability.

Spy action-thrillers are supposed to be fun on some level but this one is too much of a chore to properly entertain.

U.S. Release Date: 2019-12-13
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity, Sexual Content)
Genre: Drama
Director: Clint Eastwood
Cast: Paul Walter Houser, Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, Nina Arianda

Eastwood has crafted an engaging (albeit fictionalized) account of the triumph of ordinary men over the establishment.

With its grim tone and sickening content, this gruesome gore-fest is an unwatchable piece of excrement.

The film’s low profile makes it one of the summer’s best hidden surprises and it should please those who revel in the horror/comedy genre.

Although the movie will be embraced by the singer’s fans, it has something to offer those with no more than a casual appreciation of the man’s music.

U.S. Release Date: 2019-04-19
MPAA Rating: "R" (Sexual Content, Nudity)
Genre: Drama
Director: Trevor Nunn
Cast: Judi Dench, Sophie Cookson, Stephen Campbell Moore, Tom Hughes, Tereza Srbova, Ben Miles

Although the story is interesting, the presentation isn’t. Individual scenes work but the movie as a whole doesn’t.

"The Running Man" wastes a good premise so egregiously that it feels like a desecration.

Run Time: 1:48
U.S. Release Date: 2019-01-11
MPAA Rating: "R" (Violence, Profanity, Drugs)
Genre: Thriller
Director: Jen McGowan
Cast: Hermione Corfield, Jay Paulson, Micah Hauptman, Sean O’Bryan, Daniel R. Hill, Jeremy Glazer

An uneven but ultimately satisfying thriller seamlessly blends horror and thriller elements across its 108-minute running time.

For "Roma" to attain its full power (which is considerable), a viewer must exhibit not only patience but fortitude.
