The timeless quality of the story and animation make it as much a pleasure to see on the second or third time as it is on the first.

Lackluster and restrained, it employs a dull story to present a message about the importance of diversity and the evils of assimilation.

"Mary" is more mediocre than bad but there’s nothing here to catch the attention of anyone serious about their horror.

Can’t make up its mind whether it wants to be a popcorn thriller or something with an existential bent, and isn't fully satisfying as either.

Soderbergh uses this as an opportunity to educate as much as entertain, but there are times when the scattershot approach is more frustrating than fulfilling.

The filmmakers underestimate the audience’s intelligence, delivering something cartoonish and unfunny that doesn’t work as a comedy, an action/adventure spoof, or much of anything else.

It unquestionably touches the funny bone but, in doing so, reminds us of some truths we’d rather ignore.

It’s an all-in performance, with Zellweger doing more than merely mimicking Garland.

Contains all the elements of good, deep drama; believable acting and strong, down-to-earth writing allow the characters’ relationships to come to the fore.
